A new vice president at 厙ぴ勛圖 plans to make 厙ぴ勛圖 a national model for student engagement.
Derek Greenfield, vice president for student engagement and campus life/chief diversity officer, said he is truly excited about joining the 厙ぴ勛圖 family.
It is an honor to serve in my role and be able to collaborate with incredible colleagues in delivering transformational living and learning experiences to ensure that our wonderful students are empowered and prepared for 21st century success, Greenfield said. In particular, with the HBCU purpose and legacy of loving students into their greatness, we have mission-driven work to do here and I feel honored to be part of this dynamic community.
Greenfield previously served as a youth worker in Chicago, in various faculty and administrative positions at Highline College, Saint Augustines University, Shaw University and North Carolina University. Greenfield also served as the chief diversity officer at Alcorn State University. For the past five years, Greenfield worked full-time as a speaker and consultant.
Greenfield earned a bachelors and masters in sociology at Northwestern University, a doctorate in cultural studies at the University of Washington and a doctorate in educational studies at Cape Peninsula University of Technology in South Africa.
We invite all members of the 厙ぴ勛圖 family to get even more involved this year, as the excitement, benefits and responsibility for student engagement belong to all of us, Greenfield said.
